Grand Targhee Resort is a mountain escape from the usual pitfalls you commonly find at many other ski resorts. No fresh powder? They are known for getting some of the continent’s largest powder dumps, ranking the resort among the top four in North America for annual snowfall. Long lift lines taking up too much of your time? They excel in keeping the lifts flowing, handling crowds with relative ease and are known for short, if not expeditious, wait times. The resort itself has a variety of lodging options, a spa, shopping, and even conference facilities in case you are looking to plan a family get together or your next company retreat.

When the weather gets cold, there is fun to be had. Aside from getting on the mountain for some skiing and snowboarding, you can take some time to enjoy snowshoeing the numerous trails and open landscape. Dogsledding tours, snowcat adventures, snowmobiling and even ski-biking (you read that right) are available for those looking for that unique thrill. And, if you’re looking for something special to do with that special someone, there are romantic sleigh ride dinners to be had, a real mountain treat.

In the summer, you can enjoy scenic chairlift rides, music festivals including the resorts bluegrass festival, and when you’re feeling like a spending some time on the links, the nine-hole Targhee Village Golf Course is certainly a fun time. Grand Targhee resort is also in close proximity to Yellowstone National Park, making a visit to the resort a perfect opportunity to take a day trip to one of America’s greatest national parks. If you’ve got kids coming with you, they are sure to enjoy the kid camps that are offered, meeting new friends while enjoying the resort in a way that is specially tailored to them.

Located in the heart of the Teton Mountains, Grand Targhee is spread over two mountains, Fred’s Mountain and Peaked Mountain, and features powder filled bowls, fun glades and some great tree skiing. The peak elevation reaches 9,920 feet (3,024 meters) with a 2,270 foot (692 meter) vertical drop, and the impressive 2,602 acres (1,053 hectares) of skiable terrain receives an average of 500 inches (1,270 centimeters) each season. The numerous runs cater to skiers and snowboarders of various experience levels, with 10% meant for beginners, 70% for intermediate levels and the remaining 20% for experts. You’ll also find 9.3 miles (15 kilometers) of groomed Nordic skiing trails to go along with the slopes, including the resorts longest run, Teton Vista Traverse, measuring 2.7 miles (4.3 kilometers) long, as well as a terrain park that anyone can enjoy.
